2015-06-10 11:52:35

KARACHI: Additional Inspector General Karachi, Ghulam Qadir Thebo has sent a letter to the Excise and Taxation Department, suggesting to install GPS trackers in motorcycles at the time of registration of the two-wheeler.

As per recent report, 7,000 motorcycles were stolen or snatched in Karachi during the current year so far which clearly shows the rising number of street crimes in Karachi that is a hometown of atleast 20 million people.

AIG Karachi gave this suggestion to the Excise and Taxation Department keeping in view the huge number of theft and snatching of motorcycles and advised the concerned department to install of trackers must be declared mandatory at the time of registration of motorbikes.

It is a good suggestion by the AIG Karachi in order to better the situation of street crimes in Karachi. The public also welcomed the suggestion presented by the AIG and said that it would help to reduce the number of street crimes.

Moreover, it would be convenient for the public as well to get their GPS tracker install in motorbikes at the time of registration if made mandatory by the excise department. Otherwise, if people is asked to install GPS tracker by themselves in their bikes, then it would not get a positive response from them.
